Who is Cornerstone?
Cornerstone is a contemporary Christian Rock band composed of students from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. These students, besides their faith, all have one thing in common - a love of music. All the members will be Juniors at MLC this fall except Chris who will be starting at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary.
How we started:
Cornerstone was formed at the request of Dr. Mike Pfiefer, WELS Director of
Youth Decipleship. In need of a band for the International Youth Rally, July 2001, Dr. Pfiefer asked a group of MLC students to take on the challenge of forming a contemporary Christian band for the rally. The members of the group first met and began practicing in February of 2001. By the last practice in mid-June the band had learned over 10 songs for the rally, all while keeping up with their school work (whew)!
Our music:
A collection of contemporary Christian Rock cover songs. We are in
the process of writing some originals. We are careful to make sure that the lyrics of all our songs (covers/originals) are correct in accordance with the teachings of the Bible.
CD's?
We've been asked if we have CD's for sale. We do not, but are planning on recording over the winter and, Lord willing, hope to have a CD available by next summer. Keep checking the web site for updates.
Where will we be next?
We're currently lining up gigs for next summer. We have requests to play 3 different regional rallies, and possibly some other events. Once we have dates finalized we'll post them on the web site.
